is it possible that change RGB LED to NIR LED in LightCrafter 4500 for using IR projector?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500, DLP4500NIR

 Hi.

 I read datasheets dlpu011f and dlp4500.

LightCrafter 4500 has corning eagle xg mirrors.

so I think it may reflect 70% of NIR wavelength lights.

if I change the RGB LED to NIR LED, something like 'SML-H15RTT86', can I use LightCrafter to NIR projector?

And I wondering about LEDs size in LightCrafter 4500.

thanks.

  • Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forums and we hope to assist you with your questions.

We do have EVMs that can be purchased that are already setup with IR LED such as below.

To make these changes on an existing system, you would need to perform various changes.

    1. You will need to remove dichroic filters as these do not work with NIR and replace the direct optical source with the NIR LED.

For example in the below image you would have to change the blue array to be the NIR LED as it has the direct source to the rest of the optical elements.

    2. You will need to change various optical elements in the optical engine as these parts normally function with visible light and ensure they function with NIR.

    3. You will need to change the DMD from the DLP4500 to the DLP4500NIR.
