DLPLCR4500EVM: USB Driver Problem

Welcome to the E2E forums and we hope to assist you with your questions. 

• Was the EVM able to be recognized in the past or has it had issues right out of the box and was never able to connect?
• Did you try different usb cables and ports on your computer to ensure your computer and the cable are not an issue? Have you tried connecting to another computer and have any issues?
• There is a newer version of the GUI available version 4.4.1 you can uninstall your older version and install the newer version with this link to try to see if that solves the issue: http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/forms/self_cert_export.html?prod_no=DLPLCR4500GUI-4.4.1-windows-installer.zip&ref_url=http://software-dl.ti.com/dlp/pico/lightcrafter_4500_GUI
• Lastly I would try using the JTAG programmer to update the dlpc350 firmware to the latest version since you cannot use the GUI.

Hello Alex,

I tried your solution and let me share you the results:

• The EVM recognized well in the past and the connection problem happened after connecting another board (Flexlight DLP4500 - Keynote Photonics - A Visitech Brand). When i connect with another board, Device Manager and message box are like:
  After the problem happened, I tried deleting USB driver and reinstalling. It has failed.
  I have 2 EVM, and the problem happened when I tried with new EVM. So, I think i can resolve the problem by software.

• I tried connecting another ports and another computer. And, the results were same for EVM and another board as i shared to you.
  I didn't change mini USB cable yet, but i think that the results shold be same for EVM and another board if the cable is the reason of problem.
• I installed the recent version of GUI by your link, and the result was same. I tried installing firmware as well, but it was impossible to upload.
  Please tell me if there is any other way to use firmware well.

• I installed JTAG programmer and the error was like:

Please check the solution ASAP.

Additionally, I think the control software automatically recognized firmware version before.
But, the firmware version is XX.XX.XX and the EVM is not recognized now.

If you cannot conncet to the GUI like in your above pictures you will not be able to perform the firmware upload step.

I am not sure why the JTAG programmer install is like that, I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any issue. I also had another coworker try installing the tool without any issue as well. 

Is this the same zip download you are using? 

DLPLCR4500JTAG_v1.0_WIN_2014_04_01 (2).zip

The only path I see forward is with the JTAG programmer and following this user guide:

It's the same zip as i use and your zip gives me the same result.

Hello Sangmin,

Can you try installing on another computer or double check your install is correct or you have correct admin permissions before running the install? I have tried the install again on a separte newer laptop and had no issues opening up the JTAG programmer.
