Use of DLP Lightcrafter 9000EVM in SLA printer with LabView

I am considering a purchase of the DLP LightCrafter 9000 Evaluation Module for use in a stereolithography 3D printer. My current setup involves communicating with a DLP chip on a developer board via HDMI. The board is hooked up to the computer and windows detects it as a second monitor exactly as it would if it were a normal projector. The LabView program then uses a folder of previously created black/white images and "full-screens" them on the second monitor at different intervals during the printing process. Would the 9000EVM be able to work in a similar way or are there no LabView libraries that can communicate with the 9000EVM? This would present a great advantage to us as the newer DLP provides significantly higher resolution. Please let me know if any additional specs would help. Thanks!

  • Hi Nicholas,

We do not currently have any LabVIEW libraries for the DLP LightCrafter 9000 EVM. However, in other regards, functionality would be very similar to what you described, the board can be detected as a second monitor and a video source can be displayed on the board full screen for the desired effect you are looking for.

The difference would be that control for the LightCrafter 9000 would either have to be handled through the provided GUI, or can be programmed through the DLPC900 Programmer's Guide commands.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,

    Trevor
