issues with NIR Nano and NIR Nano Software

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPR150, DLPC150

Hello all,

I am having a problem with the DLP NIR scan GUI software and device. As of late when I plug the device into my computer via USB I get a series of error messages (http://imgur.com/qqkM0oM http://imgur.com/74tPwjJ http://imgur.com/CNRTgR4 http://imgur.com/nCjgRUx http://imgur.com/wBYBN4v ). After clicking through the error messages the software appears to work fine until I try and take a scan. When I do the sample window lights on the NIRscan Nano come on and stay on and both the device and software freeze (imgur.com/r8VGiJs) until I unplug the device from my computer and then I get this error message (http://imgur.com/thnjkGK ). I am completely confused and do not know what I did to get these error messages or how to fix it. When I first got the NIR Scan Nano EVM I was able to use it for a few scans, but today I have been getting nothing but error messages.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nate

  • Hi Nathaniel,

When you used the EVM for scans previously, did you by chance use the GUI version 1.1.x? From the error messages, it looks like you are trying to use a NIRscan which has 1.1.x firmware loaded, with the PC GUI version 2.0.x.

If this is the case, you should do one of the following two options:

    • Install and use 1.1.x GUI
    • Upgrade the NIRscan Nano firmware to v2.0:
      • Download the NIRscan Nano Software bundle version 2.0.x on the EVM page, under 'Available Versions'to upgrade the Tiva firmware with the installed binary.
      • Download the "DLPR150 Configuration and Support Firmware" (The installer will be for version 2.0) available on the EVM page and upgrade the DLPC150 firmware with the installed binary.

If you upgrade the firmware to v2.0.x, these installers will by default place the binary firmware image at C:\ti\DLPNIRscanNanoSoftware_X.X.X\Binaries\ or C:\ti\DLPR150PROM\, respectively. The 2.0 release adds slew scan functionality and some other minor improvements.

  • I did not use the GUI version 1.1.x, I jumped directly to the 2.0.1 version. As for the DLPR150 PROM v2.0 drivers, those are the only ones I installed. I made sure that I did not use an outdated version for either the Software bundle, GUI, or Driver.

Is there anything else it could be?
  • Thanks for the clarification. I guess I'm confused because since the v2.0 software has just recently been released, you likely received an EVM with v1.1.x firmware installed.

Could you please check the Information tab in the GUI after clearing the error messages, and report back the versions that it reports?

  • The information tab states that I have TIVA SW version 1.1.7, GUI version 2.0.1, and DLPC flash version 1.1.0
  • Nathaniel,

Thank you for confirming. Your NIRscan Nano EVM does in fact have v1.1.x firmware. If you would like to use v2.0 features, you will need to follow the instructions above to upgrade both the DLPC150 firmware and Tiva firmware to v2.0.x.
  • Which instructions are those again? Could you please give me the link again?
  • I edited the instructions in my original reply for clarity. Please let me know if you have difficulty finding any of the downloads:
    e2e.ti.com/.../1809304
  • I have followed the instructions. I downloaded the NIRscan Nano Software bundle version 2.0.x and installed it and then downloaded the DLPR150 PROM (rev. C) and installed it and then downloaded the DLPC150 firmware and installed it. This has had no effect on the problem. In addition the GUI still shows that I am running old TIVA SW version and old DLPC firmware. Is there anything else I can do?
