DLPDLCR2000EVM: D3 LED on, no picture.

Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC2607

After connecting the EVM to the power i would see the default screen when no other device is connected.

Today on connecting, the D3 light stays on. and nothing around it seems to work. despite connecting it to a beaglebone or a raspberry pi cannot see an image whatsoever.

upon removal of the optical module and insertion into another EVM it seems to work.

The i2c seems to work as i can detect and set i2c. any troubleshooting mechanisms?

Also is there a possibility to purchase a replacement board without the optical module.

  • Kaushik,

If I understand your problem, you are saying that you have a particular board that fails to display any image on boot. Furthermore, you have eliminated the optical engine as a potential issue by testing the optical engine on a different board. Is that correct?

I would recommend you double check the seating of the DMD data flex cable (the one with P/N:00.LC729G001 printed on it) as well as the LED flex cable to ensure that the connections are good.

If the I2C interface is working, then the DLPC2607 is probably working too. There are status registers you can read that can inform you if there are any errors (such as a DMD error). I recommend you look at section 2.4.1.2 of the DLPC2607 programmer's guide (at www.ti.com/.../dlpu013.pdf) for more information.

As for replacement boards, we do not currently offer an option to buy an EVM PCB on it's own. You would need to use the reference design located at www.ti.com/.../tida-01473 to have your own printed.

If you have any issues with accessing the I2C registers described above, let me know.

  • i have attached the screens of what i see on the i2c tools rite now. please help me here

  • Kaushik,

Keep in mind that the registers you read are 32-bit wide. As such you need to ensure that you format your i2cget to read 4 bytes at a time. Otherwise you might get incorrect data.

Based on the above screen, your DLPC2607 is probably working fine. I suspect that your optical engine or the associated flex cable is faulty or damaged. I may recommend that you look to request a replacement unit from us for this unit, as we have an active warranty policy.
