DLP4500: The new DLP4500 can't work properly

Part Number: DLP4500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC350

hi,
I already have a dlp4500, which can operate normally on my computer. As required by work,I recently bought a new dlp4500. After connecting 12v power supply , the DLP automatically projected purple picture at a rate of about one second.the picture probably be the inline image. The problem was that when I connected the projector to my computer via USB or HDMI, the projector automatically projected the purple image without any change. The GUI interface shows no connection when new projectors are used.It seems that I can't control the new DLP through computer. May I ask if I missed some steps?

My computer system is Windows 7.

  • Hi,

Kindly Jump across the header J18 to hold the device into bootloader mode, and then reflash the DLPC350 with the latest firmware using the Llighcrafter 4500 GUI and see if it solves your problem.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Hirak.

  • Thank you for your reply.

As you say,I connected the J18, and the GUI interface showed the normal connection. Then,i refresh dlpc350 by 'firmware upload'.As is shown in picture

But,When I'm done with this. DLP4500 still doesn't project images properly; And, when I cancel j18's connection, the DLP is still automatically projected with purple images.

So which step did I do wrong?

  • Hi,
After reflashing the latest firmware kindly remove the J18. After removing kindly check if you can connect to the LCR4500 GUI, and attempt to display different splash images. Let me know if this works out.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Hirak.
  • I am using " DLPR350PROM_v3.1.0.bin" to update dlpc350.  when it was done,i remove the J18.     LCR4500 GUI shows unconnected again  and  the DLP is still automatically projected with purple images.

Thank you for your patient reply .

  • The situation is as described above, then how should I solve this problem?
  • Hi,

This is interesting. Since you say you were able to flash properly it should have connected to the GUI. Kindly try to flash the latest official DLPC350 firmware from TI.com once again, and try to connect. Also look for the heartbeat LED (D4) is blinking or not. If the LED is not blinking even after reflashing, it denotes that there is damage in flash memory chip.

Hope this helps with your problem.

    thanks & regards,

    Hirak.

  • Hi,

I have updated the dlpc350 with the latest DLPC350 firmware. When I connect to j18, the GUI interface is displayed as follows, and the image cannot be projected.

When I remove j18, dlp4500 returns to its original state and automatically projects the built-in image.  At this time, the GUI display is not connected, the interface is as shown

I don't know how to check if heart beat LED (D4) is blinking or not. The GUI indicator is as shown above,And there is only one yellow light on the back of the DLP4500.

  • hi

According to the above description, can you judge whether the memory chip is damaged?

  • Hi,

Kindly confirm if you see the LED (D4) on the board blinking at a regular interval. Its situated near the DLPC350 controller on the board. Kindly see the imaged attached.

Can you see this LED blinking?

    Thanks & Regards,

    Hirak.

  • The LED is not flashing or even reacting。Only one LED behind is bright。As the picture shows:

  • Does this mean that the flash chip is broken?
  • Hi,

I think it seems from the symptoms that there is a problem with the flash chips.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Hirak.
  • Since it is a hardware reason, should I need to send the DLP4500 back to the manufacturer?
  • Hi,

For information on Returns and Warranty, kindly contact the distributor you bought the LightCrafter from.

    Hope this resolves your query,

    Thanks & Regards,
    Hirak.
