[FAQ] New DMD part number for DLPC347X

TI is seeing an increasing traction in the light control markets under the Pico portfolio. In order to better distinguish and support light control use cases (3D machine vision, 3D printing, etc.), TI has released new DMDs for use with the DLPC347x controllers. These new DMDs are functionally equivalent to the existing DMDs.

The following table summarizes the compatibility of these new DMDs –

Changes in the TI Firmware support strategy -
  • Older firmware versions (v7.x.x) will continue to work with the old DMD part numbers.
  • New firmware versions (v8.x.x and onwards) with bug fixes and future improvements will only support the new DMD part numbers, hence TI highly recommends all the DLPC347X customers to migrate to the new DMD part numbers as soon as possible.

  • Help TI better drive future developments for light control markets, independent of display markets.
  • Help TI better support the longer life cycle requirements for industrial, professional and medical markets.
