TMS320C6455: C6455 topside marking and white dot issue

Genius 13655 points
Part Number: TMS320C6455

Hello Champs,

Customer purchased a batch of TMS320C6455BZTZA chips from Rochester Electronics.

1. There is a little white dot on every C6455 device. Please see below pictures. Is it a quality issue?

2. He found the topside marking is different. Are both "@2005 TI" and "@2005 TI  ZTZ" correct?

Thanks.

Best Regards
Shine

  • Hi Shine
We consulted the quality team on this and their recommendation was as follows

“Please contact your Rochester representative for this inquiry. We are not able to provide genealogy or other support for the pictured units via E2E. Inquiries relative to material validity/genealogy should be directed to your contact from whom you purchased the units.”

    Regards
    Mukul

    OKay.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Shine, We've bought these parts from ICKEY, one local distributor of REI, they argues that this is not quality issue unless we have test report to prove that, however, our QC rejects the parts directly, which makes sense because the appearance problem is so obvious.  Ickey said that their communication with REI and TI was confidential.  It sounds irresponsible and is very hard to convince us.   Could you help us check with REI?  Thanks!
