Hi,

1. I would like to inquiry about how to use PoDL with this evaluation board. I have seen a several opened questions in this topic, but none of them was answered publicly.

2. Another question of mine is how to connect an STM32 to the APL-PHY itself? Can I use the MDIO pins directly or do I need a Media Converter Interface?

3. Is there a communication protocol pre-implemented on the board? I would like to use Modbus TCP/IP with this board.

Hi Karoly,

1. Are you looking for a standard PoDL design or a specific ATL PoDL design? We can share details on an ATL PoDL design offline.

2. You can connect the MAC pins, MDIO, and MDC directly to the STM32. A media converter is a tool to make it easier to work with a standard RJ45 but is not necessary.

3. There is no pre-implemented communication protocol on the board.

1. I am not familiar with the meaning of ATL. At first I thought you wanted to write APL, but I assume this is something different. Class 5 PoDL would be great, but I am looking forward to any PoDL solution.

2. As far as I know if I want to use an STM32, I have to connect the following pins of the DP83TD510E to the Microcontroller:

TX_D[3:0]

RX_D[3:0]

TX_EN

RX_DV

Can I find these pins on the devboard available?

These pins are found only on connector J11 on the EVM board. Also I emailed you the PoDL design.
