DS16EV5110A: Register 0x03, bits 2:0 "reserved" is not reserved, in fact?

Part Number: DS16EV5110A

Hello, TI!

I have a design where the equalizer DS16EV5110A is connected to the SMBus and I control the individual gain of TMDS pair using a microcontroller. The datasheet for the equalizer indicates that for the clock pair, you can only turn the gain on or off, but cannot be adjusted (the gain field is marked as "reserved").

However, with the default value in this field (0x7), the image on the monitor screen (from some video sources with bad connectors) is unstable or black screen. But with the value of 0, everything works well

Can you please tell me what exactly happens when writing 0 to register 0x3[2:0]?

Thanx!
