TLK10031: Convert from 10GBASE-KR to 10GBASE-T

Part Number: TLK10031

Customer has an FPGA with a 10BASE-KR output but would like to convert this to 10GBASE-T copper. Could the TLK10031 help in this conversion by interfacing to the FPGA over -KR data link and then connect to -T PHY using XAUI? Block diagram of concept:

Or does XAUI interface need a MAC controller?

The TLK10031 can translate XAUI to 10GBASE-KR, but not XAUI to 10GBASE-T.

Hi Rodrigo,

I'm not sure if I completely understand your statement. I understand that the TLK10031 does not work as a PHY for 10GBASE-T. In this plan, there would be a different PHY for 10GBASE-T. The TLK10031 would be translating from -KR to XAUI.

But are you saying the XAUI interface is different for -KR vs -T?

If per your statement, "The TLK10031 would be translating from -KR to XAUI" then I see no issue. it should work.
