TPD6S300A: How to bypass TPD6S300A if necessary

Hi,

Customer has a need to implement an option of bypassing TPD6S300A. They implement this by adding 0ohm on SBU1/SBU2/CC1/CC2 signals between type-c connector and system side. When they need to bypass TPD6S300A, they'll not mount TPS6S300A and mount these four 0ohm resistor. Is there any concern from these four 0ohm resistors when TPD6S300A is not mounted?

Hi Antony,

Obviously the OVP protection on SBU/CC pins will be at risk when TPS6S300A not mounted. Another point, while routing the traces reduce stub length.

Thanks. Do you mean they should try their best to reduce stub length if they bypass TPD6S300A?

Hi Antony,

No, stub need not be super optimized considering frequency of operation, but do not keep it too long.

Hi Prajith, May I know is there any Max stub SPEC or requirement. we would like to know our design is ok or not

Hi Chris,

what is the stub length in your design for CC lines?

Please work with the SOC/re-timer vendor for the SBU stub limitation.
