TCAN337: FAULT pin state not changing

Part Number: TCAN337

Dear Team,

We have observed that in TCAN337 part, FAULT pin state not changing while we conduct CANH short to GND & CANL short to VCC (12V). But when we do vice versa like CANL Short to GND & CANH short to VCC (12V) we are able to detect the FAULT (Pin 5) status.

Please help me in this issue at the earliest.

Regards,

Krishna

  • Krishna,

The FAULT pin on TCAN337 only indicates TXD DTO, RXD DTO, Thermal Shutdown, and Under voltage lock out. The conditions of CANL short to GND and CANH short to VCC are most likely creating a dominant bus condition, which triggers the RXD DTO flag and thus the FAULT pin. The conditions of CANH short to GND and CANL short to VCC create a negative differential which would not trigger a dominant case.

This can be verified if you monitor the RXD pin when you assert these faults.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
