DP83848VYB: Parallel caps placed close to the PFBOUT

Hi Expert,

The pin description on the data sheet says "Parallel caps, 10 μF (Tantalum preferred) and 0.1 μF, should be placed close to the PFBOUT".

Is it okay to use MLCC instead of tantalum?

Hi Morimoto-san,

Please check this post for reference, but we would suggest keeping the capacitor as a tantalum instead of ceramic.

Why do you recommend tantalum capacitors? What characteristics of capacitors are needed? I want information on specific characteristics and values.

Please note the last sentence of the first resolved post: "Thus, the use of the Tantalum cap would constitute best practice and would provide more stability for the regulator, but many designs have used ceramic caps instead and have not seen any issues."
