DS90UB964-Q1: How to configure for YUV input

Part Number: DS90UB964-Q1

Hello,

My question is similar to below.
DS90UB964-Q1: YUV422 12bit - Interface forum - Interface - TI E2E support forums

I would like you to confirm whether DS90UB964 can accept YUV422 8bit data from serializer.
According to datasheet, there is following two registers.

* Add 0x70 (For RAW10)
* Add 0x71 (For RAW12)

It seems that this can assume only RAW data from serializer.
So, could you please tell me how user should set registers to accept YUV ?

Best Regards,

  • Hello Ryuuichi,

    yes, the DS90UB964 does support this data type. To use that you need to do followings:

    1) Set the SER to use RAW10 mode.

    2) Set the DES to use RAW10 mode, either using MODE pin or using reg 0x6D.

    3) On the DES, register 0x70[5:0] write 0x1E, for using YUV422 8-bit.

    4) On the DES, set register 0x7C[7:6] to either 10 for using the upper 8-bits, or to 11 for using the lower 8-bits.

  • Hi Hamzeh-san,

    My customer tried above sequence but they could not observe expected result.
    However, they also said that they could not confirm any waveform from output of DS90UB964.

    I think even if user mistook setting of output format, we can see any waveform from output of DS90UB964.
    Is my understanding correct ?

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Ryuuichi-san,

    Yes, your understanding is correct.

    Please ask them to provide register dump from the DES, from the connected Rx Port. Means if the Camera is connected to DES Rx Port0, then write in the DES reg 0x4C=0x01 and then dump all registers in operating state.
