Hi team,

This thread says that eye diagrams are not recommended.
Why are eye diagrams not recommended for physical layer evaluation?

And tell me one more thing.

I am planning to use the margin analysis tool by ALP.
Do I need USB2ANY to use ALP on a board that I designed myself, not EVM?
Can I use a conversion board like this instead of USB2ANY?

This is correct. Eye diagrams are not recommended because there is a back-channel component that will interfere with the eye.

TI's USB2ANY or Aardvark adapter board can both be used to interface with ALP software.

Bad
954 <=I2C=> MIKROE-1985 <=USB=> PC(ALP)

Good
954 <=I2C=> USB2ANY <=USB=> PC(ALP)
or
954 <=I2C=> Aardvark adapter board <=USB=> PC(ALP)

Hi Masanori,

That is correct, either a USB2ANY or Aardvark is required. This software/drivers is what the ALP's libraries are built to support.
