XIO2001EVM: EEPROM required?

Is the EEPROM required?

We will be using the XIO2001 in a similar way to the EVM, so are testing with the EVM for this question. I would like to know if the EEPROM is required. What are the XIO2001 internal defaults?

I haven't found documentation yet explaining it's contents, hopefully there is some available.

At a guess the VID/PID values are in the EEPROM but devices like this can have sensible internal default values. Depending on your answer we will remove or disable the EEPROM on the EVM.
