SN65CML100: Boosting differential output voltage swing

Part Number: SN65CML100

Hi,

The SN65CML100 datasheet says VOD is as below when terminated to VTT = 1.8V:

We can see that terminating into 50 ohms doubles the VOD voltage swing compared to 25 ohms.

Is it realistic / allowed / permitted to use 100 ohm terminations and further increase VOD to 1140mV to 2000mV?

Thanks,

Claude

  • This is a reasonable assumption. But VTT must be high enough (1.8 V certainly is not). And this is neither tested nor guaranteed.

Please note that a termination that does not match the characteristic impedance of the transmission line reduces signal quality.
