DS100DF410: Request connector feasibility analysis for the re-timer

Hello,

My customer is using the DS100DF410 re-timer devices with connector as shown below.

They want to change the connector they were using to the following connector because of delivery issue.

Please review whether there are any problems using the above connector.

    Hi JH,

    Do you have S-Parameters of your previous connector that we could compare to?

    I would recommend running IBIS-AMI simulations of the channel to gain a better understanding of performance.

    We do not have previous S-Parameter data. Previously, the simulation was done by a TI dealer.

    Would you be able to at least share the s-parameters of your newest connector that you are considering with us? TI could then run some quick simulations with them. What I can comment from the s-parameters report that you shared is that the return loss performance of the connector looks a bit marginal. Simulation would help us assess to what extent we actually have a problem if using this connector as part of the retimer electrical channel.
