There have been some questions regarding the TLK2711-SP eye mask related to the following E2E thread, so I am hoping to clarify them in this post.

Regarding the TLK2711-SP high speed receiver eye mask, it’s important to consider that only the eye width and eye height specifications are clearly defined in the datasheet.  Because of this, the mask previously defined on E2E should not be treated as a requirement.  The requirements that ought to be met based on the datasheet are a peak to peak differential input voltage of 440 mV and <0.4 UI of jitter.  The jitter and VID p-p requirements can be used to form the diamond eye mask below.

Additionally, if a customer is having challenges meeting these requirements, they should consider adding pre-emphasis to the signal through the use of the PRE pin.
