Hi, Staff
Please let me check the input specification of the device.
Question
1. I don't think the device will be damaged even if the same potential (eg 3V or 5V) is input to 1A (2pin) and 1B (1pin).
2. If the same potential (eg 3V or 5V) is input to 1A (2pin) and 1B (1pin), what kind of potential is output to 1Y (3pin)?
(I think it's indeterminate)
best regards
cafain
Hi Cafain,
You are correct on both 1 and 2 - please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi, Dodson san
thank you for your prompt support
Please let me ask you an additional question.
The input of this device is basically differential. For example, if the 1A terminal is connected to an external circuit and a valid signal is applied, and the 1B terminal is open, will the 1Y output be undefined?
regards
cafain
The A/B inputs have internal pull-up/-down resistors; see section 8.2 of the datasheet. But if you want to input a single-ended signal, you should force the other input to a proper reference voltage externally.
Hi Cafain,
There are weak internal pull-up/pull-down resistors on A and B respectively - however if a single ended approach is desired biasing the unused differential input to a proper reference voltage externally - as Clemens also mentioned. So the output may not be undefined in that specific setup (without an external bias) but the risk of it being undefined is higher when operated in a single ended operation mode without biasing the unused differential input.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi, Dodson san
Thank you for your advice.
Since bias is applied to the input internally, I understand that processing when the terminal is open is unnecessary and the output is H-level.
I understand that even in the case of single, it can be used if a bias is applied that allows the unused terminal to be ± with respect to the VT potential.
A good design should now be possible.
Thank you very much.
