SN65C3221E: ROUT leakage issue / Does SN65C3221EPWR pin9 need pull-high or pull-down on apply?

Part Number: SN65C3221E

Hello expert,

My customer would like to know if SN65C3221EPWR pin9 need pull-high or pull-down on apply. They found out

when system from G3 into S5(power state), if No provide SN65C3221EPWR pin9 pull down resistor, The pin9 will leakage about 1.4V,

0V after provide pull down resistor to pin9. Thanks!

Best regards,

  • Hi Ann,

You shouldn't need a pull-down resistor in most applications (but some applications do utilize a pull-down resistor). There is leakage current out of this pin and if the load is high impedance enough there could be a voltage on the rail. This isn't super typical - but in that case adding a pull-down resistor to prevent leakage current from creating too much of a voltage offset is the recommended course of action.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,
