TUSB216-Q1: High speed signal compensation

Part Number: TUSB216-Q1

Hi, Team

I have a question about out TUSB216-Q1.

From datasheet, I learned that the TUSB will enable signal compensation only in High Speed mode. In low speed and full speed mode, the signal will be directly bypassed.

Why is it necessary to bypass the signal for low speed and full speed mode, instead of compensating like the high speed signal?

Thank you for your support and look forward to your reply!

  • Hi Jeff,

Part of the reason that compensation only starts once High Speed signals are being sent is because if the low/full speed signals were being boosted, they could interfere with the USB enumeration process, resulting in the USB never connecting. By waiting until the USB enumerates, it ensures that the USB will enumerate without error, and will detect these now high-speed signals and begin signal compensation.

This link here gives a good explanation of that process. https://www.usbmadesimple.co.uk/ums_6.htm

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan
