SN55HVD233EVM-CVAL: SN55HVD233EVM-CVAL schematic and pcb available

Part Number: SN55HVD233EVM-CVAL

Hi,

I would like to evaluate the SN55HVD233EVM-CVAL.

Is it possible to have the schematic and pcb from Altium ?

Best regards

  • Hi Eric,

The TCAN1042EVM is a more up-to-date 8-pin CAN EVM which is compatible with SN55HVD233 devices. These EVMs are currently in stock on the TI store and are priced lower than the older SN55HVD233EVM. The EVM schematics are available in the user's guides.

Let me know if this is sufficient for your needs or if there's any other information I can provide.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi, thanks for your response.

Great that the TCAN1042D chip is compatible to SN55HVD233.

Sorry, I would like Altium libraries (.schlib and .pcblib) to save time in my new design (to have footprint, 3D body, ...) for TCAN1042D and SN55HVD233 chips. Is it possible to have it ?

    Best regards

    Eric

  • Hi Eric,

I will need to double check, but this should be possible.

Can you send me an email from an address I can send these documents to? Alternatively if you give me permission, I can send them to the email address you have linked to your E2E account.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

Nice sound. Yes of course my E2E account email adresss is ok.

    Thank a lot

  • Hi Eric,

I've sent you an email with the device libraries attached. I need to look a bit more for the original EVM files, so I'll need to get back to you on these. Please let me know if you have any issues importing the libraries.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott

  • Hi Eric,

Thank a lot for librairies. No issues to import.

    But I have some questions:

1/ the TCAN1042D chip is NOT compatible to SN55HVD233 chip. The pin 8 have not the same function : standby for TCAN10242D and loopback for SN55HVD233. Please, can you confirm ?

2/ I need the SN55HVD233 chip (radiation hardened CAN transceiver). In the datasheet, the package for this device is CFP (ceramic) but your "Integrated Librairy" is a standard package. Do you have the footprint (with .step file) for CFP package.

    Best regards

  • Hi Eric,

Glad the files are working well for you.

    1) Correct, pin 8 serves a different function between these devices. Both of these pins are logic level input pins with an active high state, so if the features are not used and held low, the devices will behave the same (operate in normal mode). Does your application require the use of the loopback mode?

Note that TCAN1042 is a 5V supplied transceiver whereas SN55HVD233 is a 3.3V transceiver, so these devices are not often used interchangeably. The TCAN1042EVM is compatible with all of our 8-pin CAN transceivers because the supply of the board and use of the pin-8 connection (IO) is configurable based on the device that is used.

    2) The 3D dimensions and recommended land pattern for these packages is the same, so the standard package step file will reflect the properties of the ceramic package.

    Regards,
    Eric Schott
