TCAN1463-Q1: pin use

Part Number: TCAN1463-Q1

Hi team,

I have some question regarding TCAN1463-Q1 Pin usage.

Could you give comments for below?

1. INH

Is it used for toggle enable (power by DCDC) when device wakes up from sleep by CAN input?

2. Wake

2-1. It seems that it is uses when there's external wake up switch. What's the connection when there's no switch? Connect directly to Vbat?

2-2. What should I do with WAKE pin when there's no need of LWU and only to wake device by CAN signal? NC?

3. INH-Mask

What's the purpose of the pin?

5. nSTB

Does it receive input signal by MCU to identify device is in STB status?

  • Zena,

Thanks for bringing these questions to E2E.

    1. Yes, similar to INH function on other devices, it's meant to be the enable for a power supply that goes high when a wake request is received by the CAN transceiver.

2-1. Yes, directly to VBAT or GND are acceptable connections if the WAKE input is not going to be used.

2-2. Same as 2-1, if the WAKE input is not going to be used, it should just be directly tied to VBAT or GND. Tying to VBAT consumes slightly less current overall (2-3 uA less)

    3. The purpose is to mask the INH function so INH does not respond to any wake request.

    5. No, this pin sets if the device is in standby or sleep mode in combination with the EN pin.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
