DP83825EVM: Driver issues with windows 11?

Part Number: DP83825EVM

Hello,

I wanted to test the DP83825EVM from TI.

I have followed all steps described in the user manual, installed the USB2MDIO software and the corresponding MSP430 driver (in different paths but it should not matter?).

However, if i connect the evaluation board to the PC the board can not be found in the device manager. If i select COM3 and the baud rate 9600, the status bar under port status is fully green.

However, the PHY ID is unkown even i use the option FIND PHY ID.

I use windwos 11 is it possible that this is the problem?

I hope you can help me.

Best regards

Markus Theil

  • Hello Markus,

I am not aware of any issues of compatibility between the tool and Windows 11.

I guess the main problem is that COM port is not getting detected. Can you confirm that drivers here http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/MSP430_FET_Drivers/latest/index_FDS.html are installed without any errors?

  • Hello Gokul,

thank you for your fast reply. I've checked the install log, actually there occured some errors:

    Script stderr:

    Executing C:\ti\fetdrivers\emulation\drivers\msp430\DPInst\DPinst64.exe /q /se /sa /lm /path "C:\ti\fetdrivers\emulation\drivers\msp430\USB_eZ-RF"
    Script exit code: 256

    Script output:

    Script stderr:
Program ended with an error exit code

    Error running C:\ti\fetdrivers\emulation\drivers\msp430\DPInst\DPinst64.exe /q /se /sa /lm /path "C:\ti\fetdrivers\emulation\drivers\msp430\USB_eZ-RF": Program ended with an error exit code

    Script exit code: 256

    Script output:

    Script stderr:

    Executing C:\ti\fetdrivers\emulation\drivers\msp430\USB_CDC\installCerts.bat

I don't really know what went wrong. Thanks for your help.

    Markus

  • Hello Markus,

I will have to transfer this to experts in the MSP team.

  • Hello Gokul,

in the meantime i have tried to use the boards on different pc to be sure that the problem is not on my pc.
I have noticed that the PCs do not even identify the boards.

    Best Regards,

    Markus

  • 1. It looks like the MSP430 is used as a USB to I2C.

    2. Maybe the code in MSP430 is broken. I am not sure if you can find a ezFET(Launchpad) to program the MSP430 again through SWD
