PCA9306-Q1: Switch configuration

Part Number: PCA9306-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXS0102, , PCA9306, LSF0102, SN74LVC2G66

Hi Expert,

Thanks a lot for your support!

My customer need a dual bidirectional I2C voltage translator acting as a switch 1.8V to 1.8V.

We find that TXS0102 doesn't equipped with the switch function. So we decide to promote PCA9306-Q1.

Here are 2 queations raised from me:

1. Could PCA9306 act as a switch from 1.8V to 1.8V? From my perspective, we can achieve the translation.

2.Do we have any other products to recommend?

Kind Regards

Imelda

  • Why does the customer need a voltage translator when both voltages are the same?

The PCA9306/LSF0102 can be used as a switch.

An actual switch like the SN74LVC2G66 would be simpler.

  • Hey Imelda,

Yes the PCA9306 can be used as a switch. Note that there are some design differences between using this device as a switch and level translator (i.e voltage supplied at the EN pin should be less than VREF2 + 0.6V) to allow for proper biasing of the device. For more details, see Figure 8-5/ section 8.1.5 for the implementation.

    Regards,
    Jack
