DS90UB962-Q1: Round Robin Port Forwarding "Packet Ready" Clarification

Part Number: DS90UB962-Q1

Hi Team,

With a 962 when running in round robin forwarding mode, can you clarify how our RX line buffers confirm that a line is "ready for forwarding"?

The motivation for this question comes from my customer senario where cameras can potentially be unplugged mid operation so there is potential that a packet wasn't fully transmitted. If we only have a partial packet in the buffer I'm trying to understand if the packet is going to get forwarded at all or if it will just sit in the buffer.

Maybe to clarify the question more, lets say in the below image packet C4 doesn't finish transmitting and is lost half way through transmission. Would it ever make it to the CSI output port?

Can you also confirm this scenario wouldn't cause any issue with the forwarding of packet D4?

Best,

David

  • Hello David,

In Best-effort RR mode there is no packet ready indication. If the packet is received it gets forwarded immediately to the CSI output. We even do not have buffer for a packet, this is only sufficient for one to 2 lines max (based on line-length). So, if the camera is unplugged in the middle of a packet, this packet will be forwarded as per your settings in reg 0x7C (discard or forward the errored packet).
