SN65DSI84-Q1: Can SN65DSI84-Q1 support Side-by-side packing (Left/right full-frame from SOC) input and split the left video(for Display A) to LVDS A port output and Right video(for display B) to LVDS B port

Part Number: SN65DSI84-Q1

Hi TI expert,

Can SN65DSI84-Q1 support Side-by-side packing (Left/right full-frame from SOC) input and split the left video(for Display A)  to LVDS A  port output and Right video(for display B) to LVDS B  port output as below block diagram? and can the resolution for display A and displau B be different?  Could you please help confirm the feasibility and configuration.

  • Hi,

The DIS85-Q1 will be a better solution for this application. If they want to support different resolution, then the SOC needs to be able to output two different streams through the dual DSI channel.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David,

        Thanks for the quick feedback.

If we are OK to use the same resolution for the 2x display (LVDS A port and LVDS B port output the same resolution), can SN65DSI84 support our applicaiton? can you please confirm?

If need different resolution for the 2x displays(LVDS A port and LVDS B port output different resolution), DIS85-Q1 is recommended, right?

Is the SN65DSI84 pin to pin with DIS85-Q1?

  • Hi,

If you want to support 2 displays with the DSI84 then you need to modify how the DSI source presents data to the DSI84. Namely, you will need to modify it so that one video stream is the odd pixels (since odd pixels are output on CHA) and the other video stream is the even pixels (since even pixels are output on CHB).

DSI84-Q1 is pin to pin with DSI85-Q1.

    Thanks

    David
