DS250DF410: Does TI retimer-MUX support SyncE 1588 / MACsec? Also question about link training

Part Number: DS250DF410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS280BR820, DS280MB810, DS250DF230, , DS280DF810

Hello expert,

May we know if our TI retimer/redriver - MUX supports below spec? We're wondering about DS280BR820/DS280MB810/DS250DF230/DS250DF410/DS280DF810(captured from below APP note) Or you can share the part number with those spec support but not mentioned in this APP note.

1. SyncE 1588

2. MACsec

And also for the BR820 and MB810, APP note mentioned they support link training Seamless pass through, what is that meaning? Thanks!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

1). SyncE 1588 is 1Hz signal used for different equipment clock synchronization. This signal goes to a PLL to generate clock rates for different data rate or equipment synchronization. This signal typically does not go through DS250DF410 device.

2). It is my understanding that MACsec is a security protocol between two Ethernet entities. All of our ethernet products would support this protocol since this is mainly on the protocol or link layer side.

3). In some applications like PCIe Gen3 and higher or KR mode, training signals are sent/received by sender and receiver to optimize their signal conditioning parameters. In this case, our part for example BR820 or MB810 are transparent or allow these training signals to go through the part or they pass through these signals.
