TPD6S300A: How the SBU1 and SBU2 pin connected when the PD controller don't have SBU pin

Part Number: TPD6S300A

Hi TI Teams,

We had some questions about the connection of the SBU1 and SBU2 pins when using the TPD6S300A as a Type-C port protection design. That is, the PD controller HUSB311BLA which we used is communcate with CUP is via I2C port and does not need to be connected to USB signals (don't have SBU pin). So how can we connect the SBU1 and SBU2 pins of the TPD6S300A?

Thanks,

Kind Regards

  • Hi Lumina,

From my understanding and from your diagrams, you do not have a need for the DP/DN or the SBU connections, and want to know what to do with the unused connections on the 6s300.

If you do not need them connected, the unused SBU pins on the 6S300 can be grounded.

The SBU/DP/DN pins on the USB-C port should follow the USB-C spec for their requirements for unused pins. I think they recommend floating them, but that should be double-checked.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
