TUSB211A: The difference of different device

Part Number: TUSB211A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB217, TUSB216, TUSB217A, TUSB216I, TUSB211

Hi BU expert,

What is the difference between TUSB216 , TUSB217, and TUSB211A?

Regards,

Charlie

  • Hi Charlie,

One of the larger differences in these devices is the features available on each device.

While the TUSB216I and the TUSB217A have the RX_SEN setting for reducing ISI jitter, while the TUSB211A does not have this setting.

Aside from that, each device has different battery charging capabilities, with the TUSB211A not having a CDP controller like the TUSB216I or the TUSB217A, while the TUSB217A also comes with a DCP controller.

Additionally, while these devices are pin compatible with each other, they do not necessarily have the same pin functionalities, so please make sure to check the pin configs.

Please look at this table for comparisons between the TUSB216I and the TUSB217A:

The TUSB211A Should be able to follow a similar cable-length setting as described in the TUSB216I datasheet.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your support. I have noticed the TUSB211A is a new device. But what's the difference `between TUSB211 and TUSB211A?

BTW, what is your meaning of each device has different battery charging capabilities?

    Regards,

    Charlie

  • Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your support. I have noticed the TUSB211A is a new device. But what's the difference `between TUSB211 and TUSB211A?

The TUSB211 is one of our first-generation USB2 redrivers, and generally comes with less functionality than the TUSB211A, which is a third-generation USB2 redriver. The TUSB211 does not come with DC boost, only supporting AC Boost, as well as having lower performance and more noise present when compared to the TUSB211A, which can support longer distances with less noise present.

BTW, what is your meaning of each device has different battery charging capabilities?

The TUSB216I comes with an integrated BC 1.2 CDP BC controller, while the TUSB217A comes with an integrated BC 1.2 CDP/DCP controllers. The TUSB211A Does not have either of these.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Ryan
