DS90UB953A-Q1EVM: EVM sourcing images general questions

Part Number: DS90UB953A-Q1EVM
  1. Can this board be used to transmit raw image data to our own EVM board which a DS90UB954 deserializer
  2. Can the video data be sourced from a memory location in the host PC instead of camera.
  3. Does it support connecting an HFM cable to transmit the output of serializer.
  • Hello Vignesh,

    1. The 953 device has an internal PATGEN feature that can used to generate video and then send it to the connected DES device. You can program the device to send CSI-2 packets of RAW10/RAW8/etc... You can refer to the Pattern Generation section in the 953A datasheet for more information on how to configure PATGEN.
    2. The 953A device must have CSI-2 video data inputted into the CSI-2 pins of the chip (e.g. Pins 1-6 and Pins 29-32).
      1. I am not aware of a way to generate CSI-2 video data from a standard PC that can then be fed into a receiving device. If you have a 3rd party CSI-2 DPHY video generator (such as the ones sold by Introspect), then you can use that to generate CSI-2 data and feed it into one of our ADAS EVMs.
      2. The only issue though is that the 953A EVM was designed to interface with a separate camera module, which is no longer being produced. There may be some difficulties in interfacing an external CSI-2 video source to the 953A EVM, unless the user decides to create a custom adapter card.
    3. The output of the serializer leads to a standard FAKRA connector, sold by Rosenberger, which mates to a FAKRA cable. The user would need to acquire the appropriate interconnects from Rosenberger if they wish to connect to an HFM cable.

    Best,
