DS99R105: Replacement and obsolescence

Part Number: DS99R105
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS99R106,

Hi all,

In my design, I need a serdes to send data (18bit) through a optical fiber connection to have galvanic isolation so I selected the DS99R105 and the relative deserializer DS99R106. My design is not a video application.
Now that part have LVDS output and I would like to have a CML, is there a similar IC with the same functionality but with CML output (instead of using a level converter).
I tried to check for a serdes with CML output but I don't understand the product filter or is not working properly.
Moreover, I'm not able to find if the parts are close to obsolescence or end of life, seems that both parts have been on the market since 2007.
There's some information about that? If the parts are close to obsolescence can I have a suggestion for a newer part?

Regards

  • Hello,

The product filter lists the primary video outputs only, so it is to be expected that CML is not an option when filtering. With that in mind, either a pairing of the DS90UB927 serializer and DS90UB928 deserializer or the DS90UB947 serializer and DS90UB948 deserializer seem like they would suit your needs. The 927 and 947 can both receive an LVDS input and the 928 and 948 have CML outputs.

It is worth noting, however, that doing margin analysis is intended for a whole system, so the readings you observe may not be fully reflective of the whole system unless your whole end to end setup is configured.

With regards to obsolescence, we have no active plans to obsolete the DS99R105.

    Best,

    Nikolas

  • Hi Nikilas,

I was looking for a serdes with LVCMOS inputs and CML output, for a generic application, not video.
Anyway if the parts don't have a plan for obsolescenze I will use them.
