XIO2001: Good replacement for the PEX8311 component?

Part Number: XIO2001

Hello all,

Recently I received a task to redesign an old design that used PEX8311 from Broadcom for the bridge of multiple PCI to Generic Local Bus peripherals. While searching for direct replacement of the PEX8311, which has become obsolete a long time ago and was not available anywhere, I could not find any possible candidates. Then I came across the XIO2001 component from TI which is a PCIe to PCI Bus Bridge. From its datasheet, it states that PCI Bus translation is fully supported. I am wondering if this could be a good candidate to replace the PEX8311. I am aware that it won't be a drop-in replacement, but a redesign is required.

I only have the datasheet of XIO2001. It would be very helpful if there is a design guide or a reference design that you can share. Also, any recommendation for development tools would be a great resource.

Thank you and very much appreciate for your help!
