TLK10232: 1000BASE-KX transceivers

Part Number: TLK10232
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100BR111

Is there any product which will support as Retimer/ Redriver or just as transceiver for dual channel 1000BASE-KX to backplane ethernet in a small package.

Regards,

SP

  • Hi SP,

Can you share more details about your application to give me a better idea which devices to recommend?

    • Will AN and/or LT be enabled?
    • Are the 2 channels oriented in the same direction or bi-directional?
    • How much insertion loss will there be on the receiver of each channel?

  • Hi Lucas,

    • Will AN and/or LT be enabled?
    • AN will be enabled if LT option is provided, it will be an added advantage.

    • Are the 2 channels oriented in the same direction or bi-directional?
    • 2 for tx and 2 channels for Rx ( 2 ports for 1000BASE-KX).

    • How much insertion loss will there be on the receiver of each channel?
    • Max return loss will be 12 dB..

  • Hi SP,

    Here are my device recommendations.

    • Retimer: DS110DF111 supports 1.25 Gbps data rate. AN is supported in CDR bypass (raw data) mode, LT is not supported. Includes CTLE boost up to ~10dB at 625 MHz. This device includes 1 bi-directional lane, so 2 units would be necessary for your application.
    • Redrivers:
      • DS100BR111 supports 1.25 Gbps data rate. Both AN and LT are supported in 10G-KR mode. Includes CTLE boost up to 18.4dB at 1.25 GHz. Unfortunately I don't have CTLE boost at 625 MHz readily available. This device includes 1 bi-directional lane, so 2 units would be necessary for your application.
      • DS100BR210: equivalent to DS100BR111, but includes 2 channels oriented in the same direction. 2 units would be necessary for your application.
    • Transceiver: TLK10232 supports 1.25 Gbps datarate. AN and LT are supported in 1G-KX mode. Includes CTLE boost up to ~8dB at 625 MHz. This device includes 2 bi-directional lanes, so 1 unit is sufficient for your application. Note that this device is more complicated than our redrivers and retimers and will require significantly greater effort to implement. The package size is also significantly larger than our redrivers and retimers.

    Best,

    Lucas
