TPD1E10B09-Q1: recommendation for 12V power rail

Part Number: TPD1E10B09-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TSM24CA-Q1, TSM24CA

Hi team,

My customer AUO is working for the Geely automotive display platform and we use TPD1E10B09-Q1 in their previous design for 6.3V power rail.

Now they change the same power rail to 12V so they need to choose a new ESD diode, could you help make some recommendation?

If we don't have suitable solution here, can we use two TPD1E10B09-Q1 in series, is there any side effect we need to consider?

Best regards

Fanbin

  • Hi Fanbin,

TSM24CA-Q1 could be used here if the clamping voltage is low enough. What is the part number of the dowsntream IC?

    Regards,

    Sebastian

  • Hi Sebastian,

The clamping voltage is up to 40V, the downstream IC abs max value is 20V.

Could you help share if two series ESD application is workable and what side effect it may have?

    Best regards

    Fanbin

  • Hi Fanbin,

Thanks for providing that info, TSM24CA is not suitable then. I'm going to message you offline to continue this conversation but I will address the series configuration pros/cons below:

With the series configuration you can achieve the desired working voltage but similarly since the working voltages are added, the clamping voltage would also be the sum of both devices so the clamping voltage would theoretically double.

The Ipp would also be limited to the lowest rating of the devices in series, since you would be stacking two of the same diodes this would make no difference since they both have the same surge ratings.

    Regards,

    Sebastian
