Hi Team,

Is it possible to connect two eUSB to USB repeater devices back to back? Connection would look like this:

If this back to back repeater is possible, does it involve any configuring or programming?

Could you also suggest any repeater for this configuration?

Hi Hemila,

I see you have the PTN3222 repeater in your diagram. If you decide to use a eUSB repeater, I hope you will consider the using the TUSB2E11 instead.

To answer your question. No, eUSB repeaters are not typically designed to operate back-to-back. eUSB repeaters power up in what's called the default state. They cannot translate between eUSB/USB in the default state. They should first be configured as a host or a peripheral repeater by an SoC via eUSB, which is described in Section 5.5 of the eUSB specification. You can find that here:

If you are only concerned with signal integrity, I would recommend using a USB 2.0 redriver instead of back-to-back eUSB repeaters, like the TUSB211A.
