SN75DPHY440SS: DPHY v1.1 versus DPHY v1.2

Part Number: SN75DPHY440SS

The total length from Video source to sink is 600 mm, so I intend to put a re-driver in the middle.

The source Video data is MIPI CSI-2 v1.3 configured to use D-PHY v1.2, 1 or 2 lanes. The maximum bit rate is 1.5 Gbps/Lane.

From the DPHY440SS data sheet: The DPHY440SS is a one to four lane and clock MIPI DPHY re-driver that regenerates the DPHY signalling. The device complies with MIPI DPHY 1.1 standard and can be used in either a MIPI CSI-2 or MIPI DSI application at data rates of up to 1.5 Gbps.

Does it matter that the SN75DPHY440SS is MIPI DPHY 1.1 rather than 1.2?

Under what conditions will it work or fail?

There does not appear to be an equivalent DPHY 1.2 compliant version of SN75DPHY440SS - is there another IC that would do the re-driver job?

Thanks for your assistance.

  • Hi,

The DPHY440 is only DPHY1.1 compliant. Even with the source being DPHY1.2, it should be backward compatible with DPHY1.1. You have to make sure the source run at DPHY1.1 in order to use the DPHY440.

Unfortunately we do not have a MIPI DPHY1.2 re-timer in our product portfolio.

    Thanks

    David
