LMH0397: PCB Location Suggestion

Part Number: LMH0397

Tool/software:

Hello,

We are planning to integrate the LMH0397 into our TV system. However, we are facing an issue where the main board and the connector board are too far apart. We need to decide whether to place the LMH0397 closer to the IC or closer to the BNC connector. Our SDI PCB trace length exceeds 45cm, and the input HDSDI cable length is approximately 10m.

  • Designing a single-ended 75-ohm trace in the PCB is proving to be quite challenging. Should we transmit the SDI signal with a 75-ohm trace to the FPGA?
  • Alternatively, if we position the LMH0397 close to the BNC connector, would it be feasible to transmit the SDI signal with a 100-ohm differential signal to the FPGA given the 45cm trace length?

The LMH0397 datasheet suggests placing it close to the BNC connector. However, our system's FPGA side is too long. What recommendations do you have for our system design?

Are there alternative topologies you suggest we consider?

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards,
V.T.
