TUSB211A: USB signal conditioner placement

Part Number: TUSB211A

Tool/software:

Hi,

We have a camera connected to the host with adapter (3cm length) in between. The total cable length is 6m. We see the data corruption on the USB lines when used in both USB HS & FS modes.

To avoid this issue, we are planning to add part TUSB211A in our system.

Can you please recommend the correct placement of the repeater here? Can we add it to the adapter board?

Please refer the diagram below for your reference.

Best Regards,

Shubham

  • Hi Shubham,

For applications of greater than 5 meters, we typically recommend implementing 2 redrivers, as one redriver is capable of supporting up to a 5 meter length cable. For this particular implementation, if possible, I would recommend placing one redriver on the host, and one on the device.

If the only possible location is the adapter, I would recommend having one on each end, starting at lower values of boost (Level 1).

Additionally, I would like to note that our redrivers cannot boost FS signals, and can only boost HS signals. We do not have any redrivers capable of boosting FS signals.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan
