DS250DF230: The divider setting

Hi,

Can the DS250DF230 set divider to 8 and 16? I understand that it is set with Address 0x18.

The 1st page of the datasheet says "to any supported subrate (÷2 and ÷ 4)," so I would like to know if I can use 8 and 16.

Hi Nishie,

Yes divisor can be set to divide by 8 or 16 as well. I have also copied my colleague Drew for clarifications if needed.

Please note the supported data rates in retimed mode corresponds to div 2/4.

Why the data rate is limited to divided by 1 , 2 and 4, while divider supports 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16.

Does the divider work 8 and 16 but, doesn’t the CDR functioning in case of divided by 8 nor 16?

Hi Nishie-san,

I'm not certain for the reason behind this. I can check on the bench to confirm functionality for divide by 8/16 case, but there may be additional reasons why supported CDR lock rates are limited to div 1/2/4/.

Hi Drew-san,

Thank you for your feedback. I ask this question from my curiosity. So, I don’t think bench test is needed. I will keep the divider 1/1, 1/2, or 1/4.
