TUSB8042A: USB 3.2 Upstream port and only USB 2.0 Downstream port

Question about these USB 3.2 hubs. 

If I have a upstream port (like my PC) that supports USB 3.2, but all the devices that are connected downstream (like, mouse/keyboard/thumbdrive) are all USB 2.0, is the upstream USB 3.2 SS connectivity disabled? 

Does the hub just enable the upstream USB 2.0 port only?

    Hi,

    USB2 and USB3 are separate buses, a PC should support both USB2 and USB3. So if the USB3.2 hubs is connected to a USB3x PC, it will be recognized both as a USB2 and a USB3 hub. But with USB2.0 only devices connected to the hub downstream ports, then data will only be communicated on the USB2 bus.
