TUSB214: Parameters for SI(Signal Integrity) simulation

Part Number: TUSB214

Tool/software:

Hi Ryan:

Due to our PCB size is big and trace is too long, our team plan to do SI(Signal Integrity) simulation.

Our SI team ask for parameters of <the tolerated insetion loss & the limiation of trace loss >,

For TUSB214, do you have these parameters value, or could you pls provide other information you think which is helpful for our SI simulation.

Best Regards

Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

For simulation, we only have an encrypted HSpice model. Would that be sufficient?

As for other information, we have an implementation guide that details some of our expected gain depending on the settings used, and the distances those settings can support.

Additionally, you can also order a TUSB214EVM through TI.com and implement that into your system and see if that generates the results you're looking for.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan:

    Thanks for your sharing.

For HSpice model, I will check with our SI team firstly, and btw how can I get the encrypted HSpice model if it is useful?

For EVM, I think the priority is low, Currently our high priority is for Signal simulation then can gerber out.

  • Hi Ryan:

Our SI team feedback that at this stage they cannot do simulation with HSPICE model,

They need the tolerated insetion loss with high priority, include IC to IC, IC to connector.

  • Hi Lisa,

Unfortunately, we do not have any other means of measuring or simulating this IC.

Is your customer looking for how much loss the redriver can compensate for? Or are they trying to simulate how the redriver can improve their signal? If the HSpice model does not meet their needs, then the next best suggestion we have would be to read into the implementation guide to see how our redrivers improve the signal, or test one of our EVM's. Sorry about that.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan:

I think at this stage, Our SI team is trying looking for how much loss the redriver can compensate for.

  • Hi Lisa,

In the implementation guide, we have a table documenting the amount of gain that can be added to a system when adding a redriver:

This should help at least illustrate the amount of loss our redrivers can compensate for in a system.

    Thanks,

    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan:

Thanks for your sharing, I will feedback to you once I got reply from our SI team

  • Hi Lisa,

Okay, sounds good. Thanks for the update.

    Thanks,
