HD3SS214: For DP2.1

Part Number: HD3SS214
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMUXHS4612

Tool/software:

Hi,

Does TI have DP2.1 passtive mux as HD3SS214?

Thanks!

Jeff

  • Jeff

We are planning to release TMUXHS4612 this year which will support DP2.1 UHBR20.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi,

May I know it can using HW select? or it need I2C control?

Other schedule quesiton I will ask in email.

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  • Jeff

The MUX is controlled by HW select, it does not have I2C control.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David,

If we needs using HD3SS214 first come, first served. Need to auto detect plug and unplug if connected simultaneously. Currently prioritize hardware control display without going through FW.

Is it possible to achevice? or we needs SoC send GPIO to control aux_sel and dx-sel?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  • Hey Jeff,

What speed of DP2.1 are you planning to use? The HD3SS214 only goes up to HBR3 (8.1 Gbps). If you are looking to do autodetect for plug and unplug, the HPD signal can be monitored to determine where a sink is plugged in. What can be done is connect HPD for channel A to the AUX_SEL and DX_SEL pins. This means when HPD is plugged in on channel A, data and aux will be sent across channel A. When channel A is not connected the default routing will be to channel B. However if both channel A and channel B are plugged in only channel A will receive data.

  • Its better to use firmware to ensure logic is correctly done, and there is a good failsafe mechanism.

  • Hi Vishesh,

We only support below 8.1Gbps, we have tried it can work with manual select input channel.

Since our SOC can not support FW control, if using HPD with some logic schematic.

If port-1 plug in show port-1, after port-2 plug in, switch to port-2.

Do you have any reference design for this?

    Thanks!

    Jeff

  • Hey Jeff we don't have any reference design, something like this may work for your design.

but the issue is what will happen when both are plugged in?
