TCAN3403-Q1: Recessive output voltage range

Part Number: TCAN3403-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN3403

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

The recessive output voltage range(1.5V to 2.25V) of TCAN3403 is lower than 5V powered CAN transceiver(2V to 3V). Also, this range of ISO 11898-2 standard is 2V to 3V. Is there any issues in 5V CAN systems? Please check it and let me know.

Regards,

  • Jeffrey,

An engineer has been assigned to this post, but please expect delays as today and tomorrow are US holiday. We will get back to you by Monday 07/08/2024.

  • HI Eric,

Please check it and let me know if you get back to work next Monday.

  • Hi Jeffrey,

Our new generation 3.3V CAN transceiver (TCAN34xx-q1 family) are designed for interoperable communication in mixed 3.3V and 5V networks. This new family of devices have improved performance compared to the prior generation (TCAN33x) and even better EMC performance that allows them to be used in automotive applications. The recessive voltage difference with 5V CAN will not be too much concern since CAN is a differential interface, and the differential voltage requirements are being met by both transmitters and receivers for 3.3V and 5V CAN.

Please also take a look of this white paper for more detailed explanation.

    Regards,

    Sean
