TPD4E05U06: What is the correct package drawing?

Part Number: TPD4E05U06

Tool/software:

Hi,

The TPD4E05U06, ordering part number TPD4E05U06DQAR has package USON (10) , package drawing "DQA",

but the datasheet contains 2 different drawings for DQA packages: DQA0010A, DQA0010B.

More specifically, the recommended land pattern and paste mask are different, therefore they are not compatible.

Which package drawing is the correct one for TPD4E05U06DQAR?

  • Hi Amit,

These footprints are compatible with each other, even though the GND pins have a different configuration. The DQA0010B package just bridges the GND pins. Please see the Land Pattern Examples below:

As shown here, both GND pins have the same thickness (0.4), so these footprints can be swapped with each other.

Since the DQA0010A is more popular, I would suggest using this package drawing in your designs, but again either footprint can be used.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

    Best Regards,

    Josh Prushing

  • Thank you Josh, but this does not answer my question.

Does the TPD4E05U06DQAR, the actual component, have a single large GND pin (like DQA0010B) , or two separate pins (like DQA0010A).

Also, what do you mean by DQA0010A being more popular?

  • Hi Amit,

I apologize for not answering your initial question.

Does the TPD4E05U06DQAR, the actual component, have a single large GND pin (like DQA0010B) , or two separate pins (like DQA0010A).

TPD4E05U06DQAR is available in both configurations, there is not one "actual component" that is correct. Both package layouts are valid for this device because we have manufacturing sites that create both. There is unfortunately no way to choose which package you receive, but our packaging team has done multiple tests regarding the DQA0010A and DQA0010B package layouts and has found that there are no issues with using either device on the other land pattern (for instance, there is no issue using the DQA0010A on the DQA0010B land pattern and vice versa).

In summary, the die that has the characteristics of TPD4E05U06 that is placed in the DQA0010A and DQA0010B packages is the same, so both are classified as the component itself. The only difference between these two package layouts is the bridge between the ground pins being present or not, which as mentioned above, we have done many tests to verify that there will be no issue with using either layout no matter which land pattern you designed in your schematic.

Also, what do you mean by DQA0010A being more popular?

Apologies for the confusion here, I meant that this version of the device is manufactured in more sites than the DQA0010B. Ultimately, there is no concern for using either land pattern with whichever device you receive, so the choice is yours on which land pattern is implemented into your design.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, I apologize for any confusion!
