DS90UH941AS-Q1: Dual LVDS even/odd (OpenLDI) Serializer recommendation

Part Number: DS90UH941AS-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB947-Q1, DS90UB948-Q1, DS90UB981-Q1, DS90UB983-Q1, DS90UB941AS-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

The customer is designed with the block diagram below in the mass production model.

Only CPU B/D board will be newly designed, but Dual LVDSeven/odd (OpenLDI) input Serializer is required.

Please recommend a serializer that can be applied to the block diagram.

  • Hi,

We would suggest using the DS90UB947-Q1. It can be used in replicate mode with two independent deserializers, and it has the Dual OLDI input video interface.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about this.

    Best regards,
    Ikram

  • Hi Ikarm,

    Thank you for your support.

I mentioned that it is available in Replicate Mode.

The customer said that LCD1 and LCD2 are not on the same screen.

Send 2 independent videos. (LCD1: Infotainment, LCD2: Cluster)

I think there is a "Dual Link Mode" in DS90UB947-Q1 you recommended.

Is it possible to send different screens from each of the LCDs DS90UB948-Q1 in this mode?

  • Hi CHO,

The 947 cannot send independent videos like this to two deserializers. And "dual link mode" is when both the FPD-Link ports are connected to the same deserializers.

Instead, it would be possible to use independent streams with a FPD-Link IV serializer such as the DS90UB981-Q1 (DSI) or DS90UB983-Q1 (DisplayPort)

Does this SoC have DSI or DisplayPort video interface as well? I understand you are switching from 941AS which is also DSI. In that case, can they use DP instead of OpenLDI/LVDS

    So we would suggest either:

    1. Use single 98x FPD-Link IV serializer with DSI or DisplayPort. These can have independent FPD-Link outputs, stream mapping for each port, and are backwards compatible with the 948 deserializers.

    a. With MIPI DSI, use DS90UB981-Q1 serializer. This will have similar application as DS90UB941AS-Q1

    b. For DisplayPort input, use DS90UB983-Q1 serializer. This could use MST, or SuperFrame cropping to separate streams to each display

    2. Use two 947 serializers. Have independent streams connected to the OLDI interface, and each serializer is connected to respective deserializer.

Please let me know whether either of these options work, or if you have further questions.

    Best regards,
    Ikram

  • Hi Ikram,

The customer chose DS90UB983RTDRQ1 and wrote a schematic.

Due to security, the customer cannot disclose the schematic.

If you send an e-mail to my e-mail, I will forward you the schematic.
