Hello,

We are using an OLDI display with the DS90UB948-Q1 deserializer, and our processor has an HDMI output. Can we use the DS90UB947-Q1 serializer to connect these two?

Hi Abhishek,

For an HDMI output, only the DS90UB949-Q1 will interface with HDMI video. The UB947 only accepts OLDI input.

Hello Jack,

Thank you for the update. However, when I referred to the datasheet, I noticed that the input side has an HDMI interface, and the output side has an OLDI interface using the SerDes DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1. Is this possible? If so, how can it be done?

Hi Abhishek,

FPD-Link can be used to convert between video protocols. The serializer extracts the RGB information from the input stream and converts it to an FPD-Link III serialized frame. Once it is received on the deserializer, it is converted back to the video interface that the deserializer is made for.

Hello Jack,

This means that an HDMI interface at the input and an OLDI interface at the output is possible using the SerDes DS90UB949-Q1 and DS90UB948-Q1.

Hi Abhishek,

Yes. This is possible. FPD-Link can convert between video protocols.
