SN65DSI84: How to use SN65DSI84

Part Number: SN65DSI84

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

This bridge IC has a single input and dual output.

1) Can the user use this device to display different images on channel A and channel B? Please see attached.

2) If yes, how should the inputs be formatted?

3) If this way is available, could you tell me things to watch out for?

Best Regards,

  • Hi,

You can use DSI85 to support this design requirement.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

Regarding DSI84, the data sheet 7.4.4 section says, "FlatLink output is implemented in a Dual-Link configuration, channel A carries the odd pixel data, and channel B carries the even pixel data."

I thought that if the user adjusts the input format, it would be able to display a different image on each channel.

    Is my understanding wrong?

  • Hi,

If you want to support 2 displays with the DSI84 then you need to modify how the DSI source presents data to the DSI84. Namely, you will need to modify it so that one video stream is the odd pixels (since odd pixels are output on CHA) and the other video stream is the even pixels (since even pixels are output on CHB).

    Thanks

    David
